[Pepnet] Scientist and artist collaborations to enhance impact of research
April 26 @ 12:00 pm - 2:00 pmFree
Calling all science researchers interested in working with artists and makers to enhance the impact of their research!
On Wednesday, 26th of April, it is pepnet #18 where we invite you to come and hear about projects between scientists, artists and makers. We are pleased to be joined by Andrew Wilson from Superposition (http://www.thesuperposition.org ) who will be showcasing previous work and looking to speak to researchers who may wish to collaborate.
An example of Superposition’s work is a project entitled Archibio, which is a collaboration between artists, architects and scientists exploring architectural and biological structures from the macro to the nanoscale (http://studiofor.co/archibio/ ) Andrew will elaborate more at pepnet.
Previous researchers from the University of Leeds who have worked with Superposition include Lorna Dougan (Physics), Paul Beale (Chemistry) and Lars Jeuken (Biological Sciences). Lorna has previously reported that she wanted to work with artists and designers because it would make her a better scientist. She has previously been successful in achieving funding to benefit these projects through pathways to impact.
Please do come along to see how you could be involved or even to find out more about the next ASMbly Labs, which are a pop up science lab with the aim of generating new artworks and prototypes fast, and are a hotbed of cross disciplinary collaborations. The next one will take place in summer 2017, in a city centre space in Leeds and there could be opportunities to take part or even run a public engagement stall activity at the event.
A vegetarian lunch will be provided.
