Sustainable Sheffield: How might we best implement the Sustainable Development Goals in Yorkshire?
March 29 @ 12:00 pm - 5:00 pm
We would like to invite you to attend a workshop on the afternoon of Wednesday 29th March 2017 entitled: ‘Sustainable Sheffield: How might we best implement the Sustainable Development Goals in Yorkshire? where we will present emerging findings from the INTERSECTION research project on intergenerational justice, consumption and sustainability which has been carried out by the Universities of Sheffield and Leeds for the Arts & Humanities Research Council.
This project has employed a range of methods to look at different generations? consumption aspirations and their understanding of responsibility for environmental problems in three contrasting national contexts: China, Uganda and the UK. At the workshop we will present findings from the UK – where Sheffield was the case study city.
This event will take place at the University of Sheffield in the ICOSS building, 219 Portobello, S1 4DP (see attached map). This building is located behind the University’s new Diamond building, very close to St George’s Church and a two minute walk from the University of Sheffield tram stop or from West Street. Further information about how to find ICOSS by car or local transport are provided by the links listed beneath the email signature.
Following the end of the workshop we will unveil a new public artwork produced by the Sheffield sculptor Anthony Bennett for INTERSECTION, based on our findings across all three of the Project’s research sites: Jinja (Uganda), Nanjing (China) and Sheffield (UK) at a drinks reception. Over the drinks and nibbles there will also be an opportunity to view a poster exhibition, and film about the Project findings in all three national contexts and to network with other policy makers and practitioners as well as some of the research participants.
We are happy to reimburse any reasonable travel/accommodation & subsistence expenses.
