The Sustainability Service in collaboration with Psychology and the Sustainability Research Institute, have developed a survey to gather detailed information on student’s waste patterns. This will be used to inform future initiatives to help us reduce the impact of student waste. This includes interventions to prevent the waste generated at the end of the year when students move from their term-time accommodation.
We are asking all University of Leeds students to complete a survey. This has two parts completed one month apart. The first should take around 25 minutes and the second less than 5 minutes. All data collected will be held anonymously and securely and no personal data will be retained beyond our study.

The Student Waste Research is a Living Lab Project. The Leeds Living Lab drives the University’s commitment to embed sustainability through knowledge, engagement, collaboration and innovation. It brings together students, academic and operational staff to research and test sustainable solutions, enhance our curriculum and solve real-world challenges using the University as a test bed.
