About Thom

Thom is responsible for developing and delivering the Living Lab Programme in line with the University’s Sustainability Strategy. This includes identifying, developing, facilitating and managing a programme of innovative projects which integrate sustainability-related research and student education into University operations. Thom works collaboratively with Estate Services, Research & Innovation Services and Faculties to build and maintain a network that enhances the Living Lab’s objectives. He is also working with internal and external networks to raise the profile of the Living Lab, celebrate success and share learning and best practice.

Thom is a Chartered Environmentalist who studied for his BSc and MA at the University of Leeds. Before joining the Sustainability Service, he spent 9 years at Yorkshire Water, initially focusing on environmental compliance before leading on environmental management of a capital delivery programme. Most recently he spent two years as a Lead Sustainability Advisor with a focus on resource efficiency, carbon management and the circular economy. Thom also has experience in the public and charity sectors.
