Culture and Climate Change: special Christmas seminar with the Priestley Centre, Priestley Society and Cultural Institute

December 19, 2017 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

The Priestley International Centre for Climate, Priestley Society and Cultural Institute invite you to a special Christmas seminar exploring the intersection of culture and climate change research, followed by a festive buffet and mulled wine.

The seminar will introduce international artist and new University of Leeds Cultural Fellow Kat Austen, whose work seeks to create empathy with non-human environments, such as the Arctic and coral reefs. We will also hear from Scott McLaughlin (School of Music) on sonifying climate data for creative and scientific purposes and James Mckay (EPSRC CDT Bioenergy and author of A Dream of a Low Carbon Future) on the use of graphic art to portray living with future climate change.

The event will be chaired by Sue Hayton, Associate Director, Cultural Institute
