What does the phrase “climate action” mean to you?

This is a big question, and the answer can encompass everything from planting trees to creating active travel opportunities, crafting engaging media content or working out how climate actions connect to racial and social justice. It’s likely your answer will be different to the next person’s - which is an important part of the puzzle of climate change. We all have a role to play, and that role will be unique to you, your interests, and your skillset.

Climate Action Leeds (CAL) is teaming up with the University’s Sustainability Service through the Positive Impact Partners programme to hear your answers to this big question. Tell us your priorities around climate action, what types of climate action would you like to see or be involved with locally, and have your say on our city’s direction.

We’re hosting a student roundtable to discuss these ideas and more on the University of Leeds campus. Places are limited for this discussion so that everyone has a chance to contribute, so if you want to attend, please sign up.

Refreshments will be provided. Whether you’ve got loads of ideas or just want to hear more about CAL and what might be possible, we’d love to see you there.

This event is aimed at students of all levels and disciplines. If you have any questions, please email martin.flynn@val.org.uk

The Partnership

Climate Action Leeds is a network of organisations driving positive climate activity in our city. We’re keen to ensure that as many people as possible are able to contribute to helping Leeds improve and become an example of a just and inclusive sustainable city for other places too. So, given the broad range of personal experience and subject knowledge in Leeds’s student community, we’d love to hear from you.

The University of Leeds’ Positive Impact Partners programme aims to cultivate creative and innovative partnerships between students, staff and third sector organisations to address the city’s sustainability challenges, and is part of the Sustainability Service. We’re interested in learning from you what your sustainability passions are, what are the best ways for you to get involved and have an impact in the Leeds community, and how we can help you do it.
