Blueprint is a programme which aims to help different teams identify their key sustainability impacts and opportunities in order to develop an action plan bespoke for each team. The aim is to create a network of self-supporting Blueprint teams which enable the University to transition into a sustainable organisation.

Pallet Recycling

When ordering new items ensure that the supplier removes all pallets on delivery or when they are next delivering. This should be agreed with the supplier at point of purchase. If you have any problems with this service please contact the Sustainability Service.

Paper Recycling (Confidential)

Paper Recycling (normal, waxy or glossy)

All printouts on campus should be duplex printed where possible. If not, set up a scrap paper box in your stationery area. If duplex printed, use the office paper recycling bins. If you have a large amount of paper contact Cleaning Services (0113 343 3434) to arrange a collection. For residences, please use the Dry Mixed Recycling bin.

Pen Recycling

If in a reusable condition, put onto the reuse@leeds service for redistribution around campus. If this is unsuccessful, or if pens are broken or empty set up a box and send them to terracycle. Contact the Sustainability Service to get a shipping label and for any additional assistance with this. Please note that boxes need to be over 15kg in weight. For residences, please use the General Waste bin.

Plastic Recycling (flexible – i.e. yoghurt pots, etc.)

Try to reuse wherever possible. If not, use the plastic recycling bins. Please clean before disposal and ensure remaining liquid is drained before disposal. For residences, please use the Dry Mixed Recycling bin.

Plastic Recycling (hard – i.e. CD containers, etc.)

Please use the plastic recycling bins.
Please note: Composite materials such as tetra pak are not recyclable and for this the general waste bins should be used

Plastic Recycling (lab containers)

Wash thoroughly and use the plastic recycling bins.

Plastic Recycling (soft – i.e. cling film, etc.)

For all soft plastic please use the plastics bins.
Please note: Composite materials such as crisp and sweet wrappers are not recyclable and for this the general waste bins should be used.

Polystyrene Recycling

When ordering new items ensure that the supplier removes all packaging on delivery or when they are next delivering if not practical the first time. This would need to be agreed with the supplier at point of purchase. If this hasn’t been arranged with the supplier, please contact the Estates helpdesk (0113 343 5555) to arrange collection. For small amounts, please use the general waste bins.
