Student Sustainability Architect, Ariane Far, talks to us about her personality and personal interests, and how this shapes her sustainability work and her role with the Sustainability Service.

One word to define myself

Advocate (INFJ)

I am a true Advocate, or INFJ, which stands for the Introverted, Intuitive, Feeling, and Judging personality traits. I am an intuitive individual who enjoys using creativity and knowledge to support the causes I believe in.

One word to define my academic journey

Multidimensional.

My bachelor’s degree led me to spend two years in London studying Economics, Management and Social Sciences, before spending my final one at the Rotterdam School of Management in the Netherlands specialising in that very subject.

Two months after graduating from home, I was starting my new adventure in Leeds: a MA in Corporate Communications, Marketing and PR, while working as a Student Sustainability Architect for Leeds University Business School (LUBS).

One word to define my motivation

Belief.

Having endeavoured to take action on climate change throughout my studies and marketing positions, accessing this role felt like the ultimate chance for me to share my strong beliefs with peers. I also knew it would allow me to sharpen my skills for a career in green public communications or policymaking.

One word to define my project

Education.

My current project involves raising awareness, educating and engaging students on the topic of food waste. With that goal in mind, we are currently working out a plan to participate in the WRAP UK Food Waste Week at the beginning of March.

Additionally, I am rethinking the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the LUBS Curriculum, with my colleague Mariam Zaqout, by organising focus groups and interviews within the School.

One word to define my future goals:

Redefine.

I hope my future career will allow me to discuss the climate change agenda at a local, national or global level, in order to find solutions to preserve with kindness; planet and individuals alike.
