About me

James had a supporting role in the development of the University Climate Plan and led the delivery of the University Pathway to Net Zero Emissions by 2030. As the Head of Net Zero Delivery, he works alongside the Net Zero Senior Project Manager and Deputy Director of Development to lead the delivery of net zero, supported by a team of professional services staff, academics, students and consultants. He also acts as the business lead for the Sustainable Travel Principle.

As part of a career change, James gained an MSc in Environmental Architecture in 2007 and part way through studies, in 2006, became a Sustainability Leader for a commercial property company. With a focus on embedding sustainability and particularly energy management across the company, he transferred to consultancy with a focus on energy management. In 2010 he started his career at the University, initially with a focus on transport and climate change, which broadened to environmental management, before re-focusing on climate solutions.
