Embedding sustainability in teaching

At the University of Leeds, sustainability education is an essential element of our Leeds Curriculum Framework. It is a commitment of our Student Education Strategy, Framework for Environmental and Social Responsibility and taken forward as a principle of our Climate Plan. This directly responds to growing societal, HE sector, employer and student’s needs.

For the last two years, within the national Students Organising for Sustainability UK Student Survey, over 85% of Leeds student respondents have agreed that ‘places of study should be obliged to develop students' understanding and skills, that make a positive difference to society and environment, as part of their courses’.

As we embed sustainability across our education offer, aligned to discipline needs, we will equip our students with the knowledge and skills they need to have a positive impact in the world, enabling them to contribute solutions in local and global communities in an equitable and just way. • information on frameworks, toolkits, resources, case studies and blogs
  • how to access content on sustainability education within core academic professional development programmes
  • a sign-up link and programme details for our Leeds University Network for Sustainability in Higher Education (LUNSHE)
  • links to opportunities and resources to share with your students
