Peregrines Show and Tell 2024

Peregrine falcons are the fastest animals recorded on earth, capable of reaching speeds of over 200mph. But did you know that peregrine falcons have been nesting intermittently on the Parkinson Tower since 2018? This year they have laid four eggs, which started hatching on May Day (1st May)!

Join us to find out more about these incredible birds of prey with Mike Howroyd, the University's biodiversity lead, along with local birders Les Arkless and Paul Wheatley who have a wealth of experience with peregrines and other wildlife across campus and beyond.

The event is open to all and will include an introduction to peregrines, a Q&A and an opportunity to view the birds - and hopefully some freshly hatched chicks - through the webcam and specialist phone-scope equipment.
