Sustainable Labs Event Series: Green Chemistry across all Disciplines

- Date
- Thursday 24 July 2025, 2:00-3:30
- Location
- Newlyn SR LG.02
Green chemistry isn’t just for chemists. In this session, we’ll explore what green chemistry truly means and how its 12 foundational principles can be applied across all research disciplines—including biology, health and medicine, physics, and engineering. Whether you work at the bench or build instruments, there are meaningful ways to reduce environmental impact in your lab through thoughtful design, material choice, and waste minimisation. This session will also highlight how labs can meet the green chemistry criteria when applying for LEAF (Laboratory Efficiency Assessment Framework) certification. From everyday practical changes to long-term sustainable thinking, we’ll cover actionable strategies that align with LEAF’s green chemistry requirements.
We’re proud to be joined by speakers with expertise in Chemistry and Biology, who will share how to embed Green Chemistry into your work. Come be inspired, share your experiences, and discover new ideas to take back to your own lab—whatever your discipline.
