This winter the Sustainability Service, Be Curious team and Leeds University Union are teaming up with Zero Waste Leeds and Child Friendly Leeds to support families and communities across the city.
Between Monday 27 November and Friday 1 December you’ll find a pop-up donation point in Parkinson building, collecting items for both the Zero Waste Leeds Winter Coat Appeal, and the Child Friendly Leeds gift appeal.
What we’re looking for:
For the Zero Waste Leeds Winter Coat Appeal, we are collecting great quality, second-hand:
- Winter coats (baby, kids and adult sizes)
- Baby snow suits
- Baby sleeping bags
- Pram sleeping bags / footmuffs
For the Child Friendly Leeds gift appeal, we’ll be collecting new or like-new (in original packaging):
- Books for all ages
- Age-appropriate toys
- Rattles, baby blankets, and baby clothes
- Bath toys
- Teddies and soft toys
- Educational toys
- Board games, card games, and packs of cards
- Sports equipment
- Electronic battery-powered toys
- New warm clothes, hats, scarves, and gloves
Every donation, big or small, will make a difference and help to spread joy through giving this winter.
You can also contribute to sustainable communities by thinking about how you can gift sustainably this winter.
From supporting small businesses to buying gifts second hand, buying gifts that support charities or giving gifts homemade with love, there are lots of ways that you can give sustainably. You can get more ideas for sustainable gifting in our blog post.
