Would you like your street and neighbourhood to be cleaner, greener and have a stronger sense of community?

We are excited to announce the launch of the Community Streets project. At the heart of our initiative is a simple belief: strong communities create a better environment for everyone. Our mission is to reconnect residents of Leeds LS6, empower them to take ownership of their neighbourhood, and promote sustainable practices that benefit both people and the planet.

This inclusive work aims to bring people together to improve their own streets. We’ll be modelling the great bin yard work that has already happened in Woodhouse where the residents of Quarry Place worked together to make their street lovely. Our grassroots approach will support volunteers in practical activities such street meet and greets, revamping shared bin storage areas and boosting greenery through planters.

On Thursday 24 October we hosted the Hyde Park launch event at Cardigan Community Centre. Attendees came together to enjoy a meal and connect with others from the neighbourhood. We were thrilled to see such a diverse mix of both newer and older members of the community, who each shared great ideas and insights into how we can develop our community's shared spaces. Thank you to all who came and shared your time with us.

We will initially be focusing on terraced and back-to-back houses of the Harold and Thornville areas within Hyde Park, though we encourage anyone who is interested to stay in touch as there will still be opportunities for you to learn, get involved and include your street.
