About me

Rupert is the Sustainability Manager responsible for the Environment team within the University of Leeds Sustainability Service.  The Environment team works closely with professional and academic colleagues as well as students across strategic priorities including net zero, biodiversity, circularity, procurement and travel, whilst ensuring environmental compliance and continual improvement.

Rupert is responsible for developing, leading and delivering these key environmental strategic programs to progress the strategic direction of the Sustainability service, Facilities Directorate and the University. Rupert leads a diverse and talented multi-disciplinary team that collaborates with stakeholders to address and mitigate environmental challenges within the University community and beyond.

After completing a Geography degree at the University of Leeds, Rupert moved into Facilities Management and the Property industry. He has previously designed, delivered and managed sustainability strategies for organisations within both the private and public sector, implementing a range of programmes including fleet decarbonisation, waste reduction, biodiversity, net zero, energy efficiency, compliance and certification. He is passionate about transitioning to a low carbon future through a combination of organisational investment, behavioural change and public empowerment, combining these approaches to enable sustainable, long term and environment-focused decision making.
