You're Invited to the Bike Hub's 15th Birthday Party!

To celebrate 15 years of the Bike Hub supporting students and staff with Sustainable Travel, we’re hosting a a day of celebrations on 8th October 2025, and you're invited!
About the Event
Join us in celebrating the past and planning for the future.
Drop-in any time between 12:00-16:00 to view our photo exhibition, vote for the People’s Choice Award winner, take part in some interactive activities, and see what bike services we have to offer. Drop in any time, but book your ticket here so we can keep track of numbers.
To take part in one of our Active Travel Visioning Workshops (including a BTS Bike Hub Tour!), please book your space here. We will be running three workshops throughout the day, and spaces are limited, so make sure to sign-up. Refreshments provided!

Photo competition!
To help us celebrate, we’re inviting all staff and students to get involved in a sustainable travel themed photo competition!
There are five categories you can submit your photo under, and six prizes up for grabs - one for each category winner and a People's Choice Award winner. The prizes are six sustainability hampers that are each worth up to £50!

About the Bike Hub
In 2007 the University first purchased bikes to help enable students and staff travel affordably and actively, and in 2009 the Bike Hub was born! A city collaboration that has always championed community inclusivity, the Bike Hub offers a variety of services as it continues to support Active Travel in Leeds.
Timeline:
2007 – The first University bikes are purchased.
2008 – Awarded Lottery Funding and support from U Travel Active.
2009 – The Bike Hub opens in its current location: ground floor of EC Stoner near the Roger Stevens Pond.
2013 – The Bike Hub is home to at least 400 bikes.
2014 – We made our 1000th hire!
2015 – The Bike Hub is managed by University of Leeds and Leeds Beckett University.
2018 – E-bikes are introduced to the Bike Hub hire scheme portfolio.
2019 – We celebrated our 10th Birthday.
2024 – We increased the number of bike mechanics working at the Bike Hub.
2025 – We celebrate our 15th Birthday and take stock as we plan for the future.
